This year at its 29th edition, the most widely read and authoritative Italian Wine Guide in the world. Published for the first time in 1988, Gambero Rosso Italian Wines has quickly become the international reference for pricing and evaluation of the best Italian wines. The guide is made by prestigious team of more than 60 wine tasters, who travel around Italy every year, tasting - strictly anonymously - over 45 thousand labels. The result of these months of work is an extraordinary publication, a true guide for wine enthusiasts and professionals, that certifies and describes 2,400 wineries and over 22 thousand wines. You can find all the fundamental notice of each producer, from production figures to indications for winery tours, if they are organic, biodynamic or conventional viticulture, and finally – the news of this year - if the company adopts environmental sustainability. In the descriptions - completely new every year you will find also important information about producers and the style of their wines, as well as tasting notes of their major labels. For each company there is an evaluation for every wine, with the classic rating system of Gambero Rosso: One Glass for good wines in their category, Two Glasses for wines ranging from very good to excellent, and finally the prestigious Tre Bicchieri symbol of excellence, going to outstanding wines that have passed the strict final tastings by the three curators. This year there are 421 Tre Bicchieri award-winning wines. The “Hall of fame” star is then assigned to those wineries that have obtained more than 10 Tre Bicchieri (Three Glasses) in their careers. At the top of this special list we have Angelo Gaja with 5 stars, followed by Ca‘del Bosco with 4 and Allegrini (also Winery of the Year 2016), Elio Altare, La Spinetta, Valentini, Castello di Fonterutoli with 3. Tre Bicchieri has become a symbol of excellence, a certification of quality recognized all over the world. Vini d’Italia, from just an Italian edition, is now days translated and published in English, German, Chinese and Japanese, for a total number of over 500 thousand copies sold worldwide. Every year Gambero Rosso travels with the best Italian producers around the world, with over 30 international events to support Italian wine culture and export. Over the past 10 years more than 400 thousand people took part to Gambero Rosso tastings, from Moscow to Vancouver, from Rio de Janeiro to Beijing and Tokyo, from Hong Kong on Novemer 4th 2015 in Preview at The Hong Kong International Wine Fair, the most important Wine Fair in Southeast Asia, Gambero Rosso invites the Hong Kong wine community to a Grand Gala of the Italian Wines. Once again it is the elegant Harbour Grand Hong Kong, a short walk from Victoria Harbour, to host this important event. The wine tasting will open with the presentation of the latest edition of Gambero Rosso Vini d’Italia, Italian Wine Guide in its Chinese version. We highlight the exclusive Master Class, conducted by the curators, which will focus on the new edition of the guide and the special awards.
